Harry Johnson Young Stock Show 2025

The Pt Pirie Budgerigar Society of South Australia Inc. invites all financial members of Pt Pirie or any other recognised Budgerigar Society to participate in the Harry Johnson Young Stock Show, held as an Open Show under the rules of the Pt Pirie Budgerigar Society.

This event will also serve as a BCSA Status Movement Show, provided there are sufficient entries.

Show Day Schedule:

  • Benching of Birds: 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM

  • Judging Commences: 10:15 AM sharp

  • Birds Not to Be Removed Before: 2:30 PM or at the direction of the Show Manager

Entries:
Entries (written or electronic) must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM, Friday 11th April 2025, preferably earlier.
Late entries will NOT be accepted this year.

Entry Fee:
$1.00 per bird (up to 20 birds – entries beyond this are free). Payment is to be made on the day.
Cage stickers will be distributed on the day unless postage is requested in advance.

Important Show Conditions:

  • All birds must be shown in standard cages approved by the Pt Pirie Budgerigar Society of SA.

  • Each cage must contain only a single kitchen measuring cup of seed (equal parts Canary, Japanese Millet, and White Millet).

  • A standard plastic drinker must be fitted four spaces in from the left side of the cage, level with the perch.

  • Stickers must be placed on the bottom left-hand side of the cage.

  • Birds showing signs of illness, deformity, or housed in poorly prepared cages may be rejected prior to judging by the appointed Safety Officer.

Catering for Harry Johnston 2025 Show:

  • Tea and coffee provided by the club.

  • Meals can be pre-ordered from the local hotel on the day.

Support Requested:
All members are kindly asked to stay and assist with packing up and cleaning the hall after the show.

  • Grand Champion – Including the Lloyd Edwards Memorial Trophy for Best Port Pirie Entry (Club Members only)
  • Best Opp Sex
  • Intermediate Best Bird
  • Best Intermediate Opp Sex
  • Novice Bird (Best of)
  • Best Novice Opp Sex

Moreover, Perpetual trophies will be awarded for the Top 10 birds.
Additionally, Perpetual Colour Trophies for Young Birds include:

Aggregate Awards across combined shows will be adjudicated at the Annual Show in July.

Abbreviations:

  • ASC: Any Standard Colour

  • ASV: Any Standard Variety

  • AOSV: Any Other Standard Variety

To that end, all birds are to be entered in accordance with ANBC Standards and Matrix.

Exhibitor Markings:

  • Intermediate: Mark entries with “I”

  • Novice: Mark entries with “N”

  • Junior: Mark entries with “J”
