BCSA Affiliate Clubs
Three (3) BCSA Affiliated Clubs make up the BCSA. Firstly, there is the North East Budgerigar Society (NEBS) who are based in Kilburn, SA. Secondly, there is the Budgerigar Society of South Australia (BSSA) who have their home in Unley, SA. Finally, there is the Port Pirie Budgerigar Society (PPBS), who are based regionally here in SA. In 1996, there were as many as 12 local clubs involved in the BCSA, with Central Plains, Mt Gambier and others in the mix. Over time, this number has reduced down.
To be an affiliate club of the BCSA, there are key requirements that must be met. Firstly, a metropolitan club within a 50 km radius of the Adelaide G.P.O. have to have at least ten (10) individual financial members to join. However, country clubs need to only have a minimum of five (5) individual members to be able to join. For the purpose of this rule, country-based clubs are defined as a club with its home over 50 km from the GPO.
It is worth noting that individual members can only nominate one principal club for the purpose of this being an affiliate member of the BCSA. Members are able to join any number of clubs, but can only elect one as their BCSA affiliate.
