🙌 Remembering Ron Norman
Ron Norman was a dedicated and long-serving member of the Budgerigar Society of South Australia (BSSA). Over the years, he held numerous key positions within the club, including Club President and Trading Officer. As a respected Major Award judge and ANBC delegate, Ron travelled extensively across South Australian clubs—sharing his expertise, judging birds, and generously offering guidance, particularly to novice members such as Marie and Kerry Murphy.
His commitment extended beyond the show bench. Ron proudly served as a bird carer for the South Australian team at many ANBC National Titles, always ensuring the welfare of the birds and the smooth running of the team. His tireless service stands as a model of dedication and community spirit—qualities essential to the survival and success of any club.
On a personal note, Ron resided in Underdale and was affectionately known for his signature look—always turning up to budgie events in a suit jacket. A passionate follower of horse racing, Ron was rarely seen without his pockets brimming with racing tickets. And those who knew him well would joke that you should never stand between Ron and his wallet!
Ron was truly a one-of-a-kind character—generous, passionate, and deeply embedded in the fabric of the budgerigar community. His legacy continues to inspire all who share in the hobby he loved so much.
