ABS Auction 2024

Comments from Wayne Robinson, ABS Club President: I am pleased to attach a PDF copy of the auction catalogue for your review, which I believe looks great. The pictures, showcasing the high-quality budgerigars you have all contributed, are also very impressive. This year, we have increased the number of pictures in the catalogue and have marked the lot numbers with pictures accordingly. For the ABS Auction 2024, The Australian Budgerigar Society Inc. will introduce the following changes and additions.

Changes & Additions

1. We will ensure a COVID Safe Venue, complying with the latest Queensland Public Health rules to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
2. We will use the same venue as last year – the Beenleigh Show Grounds Hall, which is much larger than the old one and closer to our clubhouse.
3. The Prestigious ABS Budgerigar Auction 2024 will operate as a bidder auction, and we will provide Auction Bidder Paddles for use on the day.
4. Payment options will include Credit Card, EFTPOS, cash, and cheque, though cheques will require prior approval.
5. Some lots already have reserves set, and vendors will continue to provide this information as the auction approaches.
6. We will set up the hall from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday, 13th of January, perhaps even earlier.
7. Breakfast will be available, and there will be a lunch break during the auction. The viewing time is now extended from 8am to 9:00am.
8. We have already started widely marketing this auction catalogue and will increase our efforts via emails and social media before and after Christmas.
9. The Catalogue will be available on our newly revamped website within a week.
10. Printed catalogues will be available from Friday and distributed at our Club events.
11. Caging facilities will be provided, using a special Gazebo for ABS Auction 2024.
12. Budgerigars will be displayed on a big screen for easy viewing of the auction lots.
13. We welcome phone bidders, especially for interstate fanciers interested in bidding. Please contact me to organize a phone bidder.
14. We have arranged three agents for freighting the budgerigars, with details listed in the catalogue.
15. Entry lot lists, stickers, and cage identifiers will be mailed soon after the New Year Celebrations.

The support for our Prestigious ABS Budgerigar Auction 2024 has been overwhelming, with 35 vendors and 286 entries. In the same way, we have planned for a fantastic day, and everyone is sure to be a winner at this auction. To that end, from the pictures and pedigrees submitted, it’s clear that there will be an incredible selection of quality budgerigars available, as you will see in the catalogue. Moreover, our club aimed to enhance the quality of the Auction over the years – we are making significant progress. Many of the budgerigars have represented at the Nationals or are progeny from them. A special thanks to our Interstate Breeders for their support this year.
