United October 2023 Auction
United Budgie Club is currently running an online auction, which began on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, and is unfolding over six nights, set to conclude on Friday, October 6th, 2023, at 8 PM. Twelve noteworthy birds from the collection of Bill Schembri, a champion member of our club, are featured in this auction.
However, due to unforeseen health issues, doctors have advised Bill to relinquish his beloved hobby, leading to his reluctant exit from the field. Consequently, these exceptional birds are now available for purchase as Bill retires after many dedicated years in the hobby, culminating his journey as a Champion Breeder.
Moreover, as it’s the school holiday season, Bill, accompanied by Rita, is spending quality time with their grandchildren. Hence, access to his birds will only be available starting Saturday morning. Interested buyers can collect Bill’s birds at either Kinglake West or at the UBC show at Plenty on October 7th, with alternative arrangements also being possible.
Additionally, Alan Rowe and Steve Bradley are preparing Bill’s birds for the sale and will post them later on the auction day. Furthermore, six birds from Tony McMahon are also available in the auction. Although Tony is a beginner member, he offers very good birds, acquiring stock from well-known breeders such as Alan Rowe, Vic Murray, Jeff Leong, and Craig Barnett, making his offerings especially appealing to newer members.
Lastly, Alan Rowe is contributing two birds to the auction. Alan, a figure requiring no introduction in the budgie community, is celebrated and recognized as both an ANBC Hall of Fame Breeder and recipient of the ANBC Hall of Fame for Services to the Hobby accolade. This auction presents an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire birds from esteemed breeders in the community.

Following discussions with the BCV, we currently offer the following in our auctions. First and foremost, please be advised that we strive to capture the best possible photos of all birds available in the auction. Moreover, each bird has been meticulously checked and unanimously approved by the champion breeders affiliated with our club.
Furthermore, for your convenience and additional insight, a video of every bird available for bidding in the auction can be viewed on the club’s Facebook page. In the comments section, you will find these videos accompanied by additional photos and commentaries, which have been included in this auction to provide potential buyers with as much information as possible.
Additionally, we have provided an estimate of value for each bird in the auction. However, it’s important to note that the final selling price may vary, potentially being either higher or lower than our initial estimate.
For those who are interested in participating but reside interstate, we’ve got you covered. We have included details for two reputable companies that can efficiently arrange transport for your purchases, ensuring a smooth transaction and delivery process.
