Capricornia Budgerigar Society Auction – 2025

The Capricornia Budgerigar Society Inc. gears up for its highly anticipated Annual Auction on Sunday, 8th June 2025. Hosted at the North Rockhampton High School Assembly Hall, this event promises a day packed with quality birds and vibrant community spirit.

Benching begins at 7:45am, followed by viewing at 8:00am. The auction officially kicks off at 9:00am, offering buyers a full morning to secure top-tier birds from respected breeders across the country.

This year, 37 breeders contribute birds, reinforcing the auction’s status as one of Queensland’s premier events. Notably, exhibitors include Peter Thurn, Ray Slade, Holmes Family, John Guinane, Peter Jeffrey, Darrel Fisher, and many more. Together, they offer a diverse lineup across all major varieties—from Opalines and Spangles to Black Eyed Selfs and Whitecaps.

Buyers can expect exceptional bloodlines. Many birds carry pedigrees from national-winning lines, including Henry George, Alan Rowe, and Sheppard & Flanagan. Every lot includes detailed descriptions to help bidders make informed choices.

In addition to bird sales, attendees can visit trade tables from Dr Ron Woodhead of Noah’s Avian Health and the ABS Inc. These stalls offer supplements, feed, and breeding aids—perfect for enhancing stud health and performance.

Before the big day, the club hosts a Pre-Auction Dinner at Victoria Tavern, Musgrave Street, Rockhampton on Saturday, 7th June at 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow fanciers and preview the auction buzz. RSVPs are due by 4th June.

Importantly, all bidders must register to obtain a buyer number. Full payment is required on the day, and birds remain at the vendor’s risk until the fall of the hammer. After that, they become the buyer’s responsibility.
