Welcome to This Week’s Budgie Bulletin!Welcome to this week’s Budgie Bulletin! Last Friday evening, our BCSA meeting convened with the committee, sparking vibrant discussions about the upcoming Budgie Fest 2024. We’re thrilled to announce that Budgie Fest is officially scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, 2024! In the coming weeks, we will be formalising that, including potential partnership packages. Last year our sponsors got their brand in front of over 800 attendees at Budgie Fest. According to our friends at Media Stable, television, radio, newspaper and digital media coverage reached over 750,000 people local here in South Australia and across the country. The event garnered the support and endorsement of prominent local personalities, such as David Penberthy of FIVEaa, Will McDonald of Nine News, and Ali Clarke of Mix 102.3, who championed the event’s unique family-oriented appeal.
In 2024 we are aiming to increase the exposure, with the event set to be bigger than before. The foundations have been laid and the interest is high. If you are aware of any businesses that you think the BCSA should approach with an intent to partner with purpose in the local community, please let us know. Support is the cornerstone upon which the continued success of events such as Budgie Fest, and the broader mission of our Council, rests.
This week, our flagship publication, Chatter, hit the shelves bursting with fresh content. Hot off the press yesterday, hard copies will soon grace the mailboxes of our loyal subscribers. If you believe you have subscribed to the hard copy, and haven’t received it by the end of next week, please be sure to reach out and let us know, so that there are no teething issues with our new distribution. Subscriptions can still be purchased using the link within this bulletin.
In other updates, keep an eye out for an upcoming notice regarding a special general meeting vote. Our BCSA constitution currently restricts transactions to cash or cheque only, but with People’s Choice Credit Union phasing out cheques, we’re transitioning to an electronic banking platform while ensuring the security of two signatories or approvers. We apologise that this can’t be done at the AGM, but we’ll likely well and truly run out of cheques before that date.
In auction news, three exciting new auctions have launched this week: BSSA Auction 5, the Glenn Sinclair Auction, and the Mal Lawn & John Boss combined auction. There is also the upcoming Mini Auction in SQ, which was featured in previous weeks. Plenty of varieties are available and on offer.
The Nationals’ fundraising efforts for the BCT will conclude with the draw for Raffle 2 this weekend, happening on Saturday. For anyone keen on last minute tickets, be sure to use the link further down in this bulletin.
In other interstate news, the BCV are holding their Adult Bird shield this weekend on Sunday March 3rd. For anyone keen to get over and see some of the best birds in the country, the event will be held in Melton.
And mark your calendars! Our affiliate club monthly meetings kick off next week, featuring the BSSA hosting David Pace at Unley Community Centre. For those unfamiliar, David is an esteemed speaker and aviculturist. He’ll be sharing insights from his recent journey to Bird Paradise in Singapore. Additionally, don’t miss the mini-show highlighting lutinos and albinos, accompanied by fantastic bird of the night trophies procured by the BSSA.
