I do need to start with a quick apology — last week was the first time we’ve ever missed a Bulletin, and I appreciate everyone’s patience. The upside is we now get to say Merry Christmas and welcome to 2026 in the one breath! I hope you enjoyed a safe, relaxed festive season spent with the people you love (and that the birds stayed settled through all the noise and heat). As we roll into the new year, we’re excited for what’s ahead across the budgie scene.
Yesterday saw the highly anticipated announcement of the 2026 ANBC Judges — a standout line-up featuring Richard Miller (UK), the ANBC’s first-ever father–son judging combination in Malcolm & Rob Randall, and South Queensland’s own Neale Love. Many will remember Richard from his visit to Adelaide for Budgie Fest 2024, where he made a strong impression both on and off the bench. Malcolm and Rob will be making their ANBC judging debut, bringing with them a depth of experience and a proven eye for quality. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the 50th Annual Show will mark Neale Love’s sixth opportunity to preside over an ANBC event — a testament to the confidence the fancy has in his judgement. Together, these four judges will carry both the honour and the responsibility of officiating the 50th Annual Trill™ Expert ANBC National Championship Show on the Gold Coast.
The North East have also advised that their January aviary tour has been rescheduled to Sunday, 15 February. To make the day even more enticing, they’ll be firing up a lamb spit, generously supported with meat by John Farrugia-Gay and the self proclaimed “Greek Master Chef” himself, Con Orfanos. It’s shaping up to be a ripper day of birds, good company and great food — now we just need the weather to play its part! Beau will have some birds to give away to Novice NEBS exhibitors, so if you’re not a member of the Club, remember to join now. |
