| Welcome to this week’s edition of the Budgie Bulletin! |
|
| It’s been a relatively quiet week on the South Australian budgerigar calendar, with no club meetings or major events scheduled locally. However, interstate activity kept things interesting, particularly in Victoria, where the Bendigo Budgerigar Club successfully hosted its annual auction.
This year’s event held added significance, featuring the final dispersal sale of birds from respected breeder Peter Tyack. The auction drew interest from fanciers across the region, showcasing quality stock and strong bidding throughout the day.
A selection of photos from the event—kindly provided by the Bendigo Budgerigar Club—can be viewed below. |

| In the week ahead, we have the Barossa Bird Club Expo in Tanunda on Sunday July 20th, 2025, at the Tanunda Showhall on Elizabeth Street. Known for drawing enthusiasts from across the region, this year’s expo promises a vibrant mix of aviculture, community, and colour.
Regional growth areas such as the Barossa are important for the continued development of our membership base, and we encourage our cohort to show support by attending and engaging with the local birdkeeping community.
Trading tables will open from 10am, with the main Bird Expo running from 11am to 1pm. Entry is just $2 per person, and children under 16 enter free, making it an affordable day out for the whole family. Visitors can browse a wide range of aviculture supplies, local crafts, and food and drinks, with plenty on offer for both seasoned breeders and curious newcomers. A Monster Raffle will also be drawn on the day, adding to the fun and excitement.
Whether you’re on the hunt for new stock, looking to connect with fellow bird lovers, or simply wanting a colourful Sunday outing in the Barossa, the Bird Expo is not to be missed. For further details, contact Paul on 0437 323 170 or visit www.barossabird.com.au. |

It would be fantastic to see a few of our cohort out at the Barossa Bird Expo this Sunday, proudly spruiking the virtues of exhibition budgerigar breeding. Events like these present an excellent opportunity to engage with the broader birdkeeping community, share knowledge, and spark interest in the hobby among new and potential members.
