Melton Budgerigar Auction 2026

The Melton Budgerigar Auction 2026, officially the Melton & District Budgerigar Society 2026 Blue Ribbon Auction, is set to be one of Victoria’s standout budgerigar auction events for the year. It features birds from many of Australia’s respected exhibition budgerigar breeders. Therefore, this auction offers fanciers the opportunity to secure quality breeding stock. The stock comes from a wide range of varieties and bloodlines.

The auction will be held on Saturday 18 July 2026 at St Francis Catholic College, 109–141 Bulmans Road, Melton West, Victoria. The venue is located approximately 30 minutes from Melbourne Airport. This makes it accessible for both local and interstate buyers. Benching will take place from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Additionally, viewing will be available from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The auction will commence at 10:00 am.

This year’s Blue Ribbon Auction includes an extensive catalogue of exhibition budgerigars from a strong line-up of breeders. These breeders include Alan Rowe, Ante Zupan, Back Family, Barry and Maree Wise, Boal Family, C&A Mifsud, CET Budgerigars, Chris and Elena Rogers, D.A.D Budgerigars, Eric Whitton, G&T Sinclair, John Ennis, Kev O’Callaghan, M & R Randall, Mark Brennand, Martin Turner, Peter Thurn, Richard Bucior, S&T Grech, Tony Butt, Trevor Broadbent, Vella & Thomas, Wayne Cachia and many others.

Varieties On Offer at Melton Auction 2026

Buyers can expect a broad selection of varieties. This selection includes Normal Green, Grey Green, Sky Blue, Cinnamonwing, Opaline, Spangle, Recessive Pied, Dominant Pied, Fallow, Lacewing, Texas Clearbody, Lutino, Ino, White Capped, Dark Eyed Clear and other specialist varieties. The bidder sheet includes 180-plus lots. Many birds carry notable breeding references. In addition, there are National-level bloodlines. There are also strong family connections. Also, there are comments from vendors regarding breeding value, type, feather, mask, spots and variety quality.

Peter Thurn will auctioneer the event. A 2% buyer’s premium applies to all bird purchases, with payment accepted by cash, credit card or direct deposit. Credit card fees apply. Phone bidding is available, but registrations must be completed early, with phone bidders asked to provide lot numbers and payment details before the cut-off. Interstate buyers requiring transport must be available to collect birds from their nominated airport on Sunday 19 July 2026.
