The Riverina Budgerigar Auction 2026 is shaping up to be one of the major budgerigar auctions on the Australian exhibition calendar. It offers fanciers the opportunity to purchase quality birds from a wide range of well-established breeders. Hosted by the Riverina Budgerigar Society Inc., this annual invitational auction will feature an impressive catalogue of 177 lots. This covers a broad selection of exhibition budgerigar varieties.
The auction will be held on Sunday 28 June 2026 at the Barooga Community Centre, Banker Street, Barooga, NSW. Auction birds are to be benched by 8:45am, with viewing from 9:00am to 10:00am. The auction will commence at 10:00am, with Alan Ryder acting as auctioneer.

The 2026 Riverina Auction brings together birds from an outstanding list of respected breeders. This includes Alan Baxter, Tony Butt, Mark Chandler, Ewing Cooke, G & P Dickson, G & H Hibberd, Mike Huth, Jeff Orlandi, G & D Pymont, Ray & German, David Spink, Peter Thurn, Norm Wheatley, John Boss, Wayne Cachia, Charlesworth Family, D.A.D Budgerigars, John Ennis, Bruce Hiskins, Meney & Muller, Ken Pullen, M & R Randall, Ray Slade, Bernie Thomson and B & M Wise.
This year’s vendors collectively achieved 10 Logies, or class wins, at the ANBC National Show in Southport. They also achieved a further 11 top-three placings across various classes. This makes the Riverina Auction a strong opportunity for breeders looking to secure birds from successful and proven exhibition lines.
177 Lots and a Broad Range of Varieties
The catalogue includes a wide variety of exhibition budgerigars. These are Normals, Spangles, Dominant Pieds, Recessive Pieds, Cinnamonwings, Opalines, Lutinos, Fallows, Lacewings, Clearbodies, Dark Eyed Clears, Yellow Faced, Golden Faced, Greywings, Violets. In addition, there are Dilutes, Whitecaps, Black Eyed Selfs and more represented throughout the sale.
Many lots include valuable breeding notes, bloodline information, relatives, National connections, Shield results and comments from the vendors, giving buyers useful background when assessing birds for their own breeding programs.
