United Budgerigar Auction 2026
The United Budgerigar Auction 2026 is set to bring together an outstanding collection of exhibition budgerigars. These budgerigars are from some of Australia’s most respected and successful breeders.
Hosted by the United Budgerigar Society, the live auction will take place on Saturday, 22 August 2026, at Plenty Hall, 21 Memorial Drive, Plenty, Victoria. Viewing will be available from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, with the auction commencing at 10:00 am. The event will also be live streamed for fanciers who are unable to attend in person.
Tony McMahon and Allan Dixon Dispersal Sale
A major feature of the United Budgerigar Auction 2026 will be the Tony McMahon and Allan Dixon Dispersal Sale, providing buyers with access to established bloodlines and experienced breeding birds.
The catalogue contains 181 lots. Therefore, opportunities are available for exhibitors, breeders and variety enthusiasts at all stages of the hobby.

The impressive vendor list includes Peter Smith, Jeff Orlandi, David Rowe, the Bradley Family, Kevin O’Callaghan, Jimmy Meale, M & R Randall, the Holmes Family, Adrian Praeger, Alan Baxter, Lloyd Richardson, Brett Martin, Wayne Cachia, Alan Rowe, Michael O’Connell, D & M Vremec, Ray Howard, Ian Schneider, Phil Anderson, Ken Pullen and Greg Culell.
The catalogue offers an extensive range of varieties, including Normals, Opalines, Cinnamonwings, Spangles, Recessive Pieds, Dark-Eyed Clears, Crests, Whitecaps, Lacewings, Lutinos, Clearwings, Greywings, Fallows, Texas Clearbodies and Dominant Pieds.
Several lots have close relationships to National winners, National placegetters and successful Shield birds. The auction also includes proven parents and unused young birds ready to enter the breeding room.
Established Bloodlines and Variety Birds
Among the catalogue highlights are birds carrying established Rowe, Barnett, Holmes, Appleton, Martin, Dixon, Sheppard, Slade and Praeger bloodlines.
There are also several carefully bred variety birds for fanciers looking to strengthen programs involving Crests, Dark-Eyed Clears, Recessive Pieds, Violets, Lacewings and other specialist varieties.
Phone Bidding, Freight and Payment
Food and drinks will be available at the venue for a gold coin donation. Phone bidding and freight arrangements will be available through Maria’s Freight Australia, helping interstate buyers participate in the sale.
A 2% BCV levy will apply to all bird lots purchased. In addition, payment can be made by cash, card or electronic funds transfer at the conclusion of the auction.
With quality birds, respected vendors and options for both in-person and remote bidding, the United Budgerigar Auction 2026 promises to be one of Victoria’s must-follow budgerigar events for the year.
