Western Suburbs Auction 2026
Western Suburbs Budgie Auction 2026
The Western Suburbs Budgie Auction 2026 is set to bring together an outstanding selection of exhibition budgerigars from leading breeders across Victoria. It will also feature breeders from interstate.
Hosted by the Western Suburbs Budgerigar Society, the event has been promoted as Melbourne’s Premier Auction. It will be held on Sunday, 16 August 2026, at the Werribee Masonic Hall, 223 Watton Street, Werribee, Victoria. The auction will commence at 10:00 am.
205 Lots from 27 Leading Budgerigar Breeders
This year’s catalogue contains an impressive 205 lots from 27 vendors. Therefore, it gives buyers one of the broadest selections of budgerigars available at a Victorian live auction in 2026.
The vendor line-up includes Wayne Cachia, Michael Pace, Gerry Duffin, Norm Wheatley, M & R Randall, Jeff Orlandi, Barry Wise, John Ennis, G & P Dickson, Martin Paoli, Allan Dixon, Armen Arslanian, Bates & Haddick, Bernie Thomson, the Boal Family, C & A Mifsud, the Cameron Smith Family, Cookson & Avery, David Broughton, Don Rixon, Greg Culell, the Holmes Family, Ivan Mamic, Ken Pullen, Lloyd Richardson, Peter Thurn and Ray Slade.
The Western Suburbs Budgie Auction 2026 also includes birds from the Allan Dixon dispersal.
A Wide Range of Budgerigar Varieties
The auction catalogue features an extensive mix of colours, varieties and bloodlines. Birds on offer include Normals, Cinnamonwings, Opalines, Spangles, Lutinos, Fallows, Clearbodies, Clearwings, White Caps, Lacewings, Recessive Pieds, Dominant Pieds, Black Eyed Selfs, Dark Eyed Clears, Australian Golden Faced and Saddlebacks.
Many lots are supported by detailed breeding notes, show results and references to established families. In turn, this makes the catalogue particularly valuable for exhibitors and breeders. They may be looking to strengthen specific varieties or introduce proven bloodlines into their aviaries.
Dedicated breeder photograph pages also provide prospective buyers with a closer look at selected entries before auction day. This highlights the quality, variety and presentation of birds included throughout the 205-lot catalogue.
Telephone Bidding and Interstate Freight
Those unable to attend the Western Suburbs Budgie Auction 2026 in person may arrange telephone bidding. Alternatively, they may nominate a maximum bid in advance.
Freight assistance is also available for interstate purchasers, including flight bookings, freight boxes, airport collections, deliveries and lodgement services. Buyers requiring telephone bidding or freight assistance should make arrangements before the auction.
Payment and Auction Conditions
Buyers are encouraged to read the full auction terms and conditions before bidding. A 2% Budgerigar Council of Victoria levy will apply to all bird purchases. Visa and Mastercard payments will also be accepted, with a 3% credit card surcharge.
Food and drinks will be available at the venue, along with raffle prizes. Therefore, this helps make the Western Suburbs auction a complete social and buying event for budgerigar enthusiasts.
